Jessica has taught and tutored in various capacities throughout the past five years. Before joining Bell Curves, she led a second-grade class at an after-school program in Mott Haven and taught reading courses at a Saturday program that served fourth- through eighth-graders. More recently, Jessica worked for the Mexican Educational Foundation (MexEd), where she helped lead a high school after-school program and guided several seniors through the college application process. In her hometown of San Jose, California, Jessica taught seventh- and eighth-grade literature and college preparation courses as part of a local summer school program. Currently, Jessica serves as a board member at MexEd and its partner organization, the Mexican-American Students' Alliance, assisting with capacity-building projects at both organizations. Jessica plans to return to school in Fall 2011 to obtain a Masters' degree in education policy.
